R.I.P.

We all knew this was coming, but it doesn’t make it any less sad or shocking–Patrick Swayze died today after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57. We’ll miss you, Johnny Castle.

R.I.P., Farrah

When we lost Ed McMahon and doctor/author Jerri Nielsen Fitzgerald this week, I had a bad feeling Farrah Fawcett would soon follow, as I’m a believer in the old death coming in threes superstition. And sadly, I was right as Fawcett passed away today at age 62 after a long battle with cancer. I guess you could say Charlie’s angel loss is heaven’s gain. Rest in peace, Farrah.

…cause I just can’t take another beloved celebrity dying. I just can’t.

Elizabeth Edwards Finally Has Her Say

Time has an excerpt of Elizabeth Edwards’ forthcoming book, Resilience: Reflections on the Burdens and Gifts of Facing Life’s Adversities on its website today. In the piece, she talks about finding out about and dealing with her husband, former presidential candidate (and former NC Senator) John Edwards’, admission that he’d strayed from their marriage with videographer, Rielle Hunter.

You know how I feel about that whole situation, but here’s what Elizabeth had to say:

Today, one of basketball’s legends will be laid to rest. NC State Women’s Basketball head coach Kay Yow lost her battle with cancer this past weekend. As an NCSU alum, this loss hits especially close to home for me. During my time at the school, I was fortunate enough to work in the athletic department and meet Coach Yow. She was always kind and friendly, with an eager smile and a warm laugh. Her valiant fight against this horrible disease, and her amazing career as a coach, will live on.
