Stupid Email Hall of Fame

crash_teas22We all get them: stupid email forwards. Misguided (or just plain idiotic) friends, relatives and coworkers forward us stuff that promises to be “hilarious” or “amazing,” when it’s actually so damn stupid, you want to reach through the computer and strangle them for sending it to you. These emails belong in the Stupid Email Hall of Fame. This week’s edition comes from my pal, Nadarine:

First of all, I love the implied racism of this one. Why not suspect professional baseball, tennis, hockey, golf, etc. players? Oh, cause most of them are white and not criminals? Yeah, right, OK.  *eyeroll*

According to Snopes, this one’s misleading for a number of reasons. For one, it doesn’t name names, and without names, how can any of this be verified? Two, it’s been circulating since 1999. That’s 10 years y’all. I would imagine some of the members of Congress have changed in that time (And wasn’t it a GOP majority in 1999? Just askin’.). I could go on.

Have you received something like this? Or does this email pale in comparison to some of the stupid crap you’ve received? If so, forward those dumb emails to bubblegumculture@gmail.com. We’ll mock and debunk (if necessary) these stupid emails every Wednesday (or, um, Thursday since I got busy with the day job yesterday—sorry guys!).

  1. Darn, my first guess was the Society of Professional Journalists.

I love how it doesn’t include how many have been caught up in gay sex scandals. Gee, I wonder why that would be?
