La Wintour’s Swan Song?

wintour1606_narrowweb__300x45201Rumors are flying all over the internet that Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, is about to retire her giant glasses and leave fashion’s most famous magazine.

anna-wintour-62508-1According to Page Six, an unnamed source said:

“Her contract is up soon. She’s thinking of retiring. She feels she’s done it all and had enough. She has been putting out feelers to intimate friends recommending a possible replacement to (Conde Nast CEO) S.I. Newhouse.¬† She’s so tired out, she just let Men’s Vogue close instead of fighting for it.”

Hmmm, the thought of a Wintour-free Vogue intrigues me. It’s no secret the magazine has gotten stale over the years, and Wintour has made a few flubs, such as turning down the opportunity to partner with Bravo’s Project Runway (a partnership that’s garnered huge increases in ad sales for Elle). It remains to be seen if this is anything more than rumor and hearsay, but I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if this one turns out to be true.

  2. I subscribe to Vogue, but at times it does seem stale. I know it’s a fantasy life sort of magazine, but even that fantasy life seems boring sometimes.

Having said that, it would be kinda awesome if Michelle Obama was on an upcoming cover.

  3. Good riddance. That bitch is crazy mean.

  4. Wintour needs to step-up and own her ample share of the responsbility for warping the body image of women, in the US and abroad. I hope a new and REALITY BASED perspective will take the helm. Good riddence Wintour!
