Lindsay Lohan’s in the news again, this time for her thoughtful comments on the 2008 election and the recent announcement of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as John McCain’s running mate.
Lohan commented her on Celebrity MySpace blog about the hype surrounding Palin and her pregnant 17-year-old daughter:
“I’ve been watching the news all morning, like everyone else — and (I) keep hearing about the issues related to `teen pregnancy.’ … Well, I think the real problem comes from the fact that we are taking the focus off of getting to know Sarah Palin and her political views, and what she can do to make our country a less destructive place.”
Lohan continued to speak on the issue, hinting at Palin’s (and the Republican party’s) insistence that abstinence-only education works:
“I think that parents need to recognize how important it is to talk to their children about the things that can result from being sexually active if they aren’t protecting themselves (birth control, condoms, etc.).”
Wise words, indeed. Let’s hope that the same people who starved for salacious gossip about Linds will listen to her spot-on comments and take them to heart.
