Back to Black

Remember when Britney Spears’ antics went from funny to really sad and kind of tragic? Well, I think our girl Amy Winehouse has certainly passed that point and I think it’s time for an intervention.

Winehouse was rushed to the emergency room of University College Hospital in London last night after convulsing and suffering what was thought to be a seizure, according to People.com. She was released this morning and according to a statement her rep, Chris Goodman, made to People: “She was taking a new [medication] as part of her anti-drug treatment program,” says Goodman. “And it was an adverse reaction to that new drug. You have to try different things but unfortunately this was not the right one.”

I hope that’s the case and this isn’t another “exhaustion” excuse (as in, Winehouse was admitted to the hospital for “exhaustion” almost a year ago, when she actually went in to have her stomach pumped after an overdose). Because say what you want about her, the girl has talent, and it would be a shame for her to waste that by killing herself with drugs. Here’s hoping she’s actually getting the help she needs and we won’t have to call in Jeff VanVonderen to talk some sense into her.

Oh, Amy. I actually found her tragic for a while, but now I’m going from feeling really, really bad for her to just not giving a shit anymore.

I like that you chose this picture in which she has a huge hickey or something equally classy.

Her talent and demons are of equal proportions. If something like Brit’s conservatorship exists in Britain, she needs it ASAP, otherwise just add her to the list of great talent that self-destructed and died.
